Safety Tips For Your St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching, and many revelers will be donning Leprechaun hats, shamrock socks and green t-shirts, for an evening of celebration at a party or pub, complete with Guinness or green beer in hand. Whether your St. Paddy’s Day celebration will be spent hosting a party, at an after-work office party, or in a local pub, keep the Luck O’ the Irish on your side by remembering these St. Patrick’s Day safety tips:

When hosting

  • Have guests turn over their keys when they arrive, to ensure nobody leaves driving while intoxicated.
  • Offer a taxi ride home, or offer to let inebriated guests spend the night.
  • Provide non-alcohol alternatives such as coffee, tea and sodas.
  • Provide plenty of food and snacks so that your guests aren’t drinking on an empty stomach.

When stepping out

  • Leave your valuables at home, and only bring the basic necessities – your driver’s license, money and your phone.
  • If you plan on drinking, have a designated driver or alternative transportation.
  • Stay hydrated and don’t drink on an empty stomach. Between drinks, consume non-alcoholic beverages or water.
  • Do not accept drinks you did not see the bartender pour or open, and don’t leave drinks unattended. Don’t ask anyone to ‘watch your drink’ – finish it before hitting the restroom.
  • When celebrating with a group of friends, “buddy up” to ensure everyone gets home safely.

While there are plenty of ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the San Gabriel and Westminster areas, it is important to pay attention when it comes to safety. For more information about how homeowners, auto and life insurance coverage can protect you and your family, contact the California insurance experts at Pulp Street Corporation.
