Parade, Festival, and Phantom: A Fun-filled February in Westminster

The Vietnamese community ushers in The Year of The Horse on February 1 with the Tet Parade in Westminster.


The Vietnamese follow the lunar calendar and view Tet, or New Years, as the most important day of the year. The festive Westminster Tet parade traditionally serves as the opening for the Tet Festival, a three day celebration which draws 100,000+ celebrants from all over California. This year’s festival, with literally hundred of booths to wander through, is slated for the following weekend, February 7 – 9. when  the air will be filled with the rich aroma of traditional foods and the joyous sounds of  traditional games and music, Although the 2014 Tet Festival will be situated in nearby Costa Mesa, free shuttle buses and parking will be available at the The Westminster Civic Center/Freedom Park all weekend

Phantom of the Opera

As the festivities wind down in one part of town, theatrics will be gearing up at the Rose Center Theater  where Phantom of the Opera will be filling the 40-foot wide proscenium stage  the remaining weekends of February. RCT will be kicking off its 6th season of captivating productions with a version of the renowned Phantom said to populated with  characters of even more depth than those seen in  Broadway and other big city productions!  Performances will be staged Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 with a Sunday matinee at 2, beginning the weekend of February 7- 9 and repeating each weekend through February 28 – March 2.
